Jonathan Colbert Obituary

Jonathan Myles Colbert, age 44, passed away on October 1, 2025, in Omaha, NE.

Services will be held on Saturday (10/25/2025) at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Street Chapel. Visitation from Noon - 2:00 p.m. with Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.

Jonathan Myles Colbert was born on January 16, 1981, and departed this life on October 1, 2025. A proud Northwest High School graduate, he was known for his humor, gentle nature, and genuine love for others.

He was the beloved son of Donna Whitehall Colbert and John Colbert Sr. Jonathan was also a father who cared deeply and offered all that he was able to his daughter, Jazmine Marie Cunningham. He is survived by his brothers Donald Whitehall, John Colbert (Debra), Bobby Colbert (Lucia), Brian Colbert, Tim Anderson (Divida), Mandel Long Belgrave, and Michael French; his sisters Meriça Whitehall, Bridgette Long-Rhodes, Zina Colbert-Mckinnies-Johnson, Carolyn Fontenberry, Cookie Watson, Fantasia Colbert, and Symidahl Okereke (Marlon); and twenty-one nieces and nephews. He shared a special closeness with his nephew Donavan Mahoney and nieces Allanah Whitehall and Egypt Lilly. He was preceded in death by his brother Greg Mitchell and his nephew Willie Colbert.

Jonathan found purpose, community, and love with Christina Fletcher through his work at Vodec, where his warmth and sincere nature made him a friend to all. He also found family with his independent living host families Michael Allen (Vodec) and Pierre and Bridget Kanam (Prism of Possibilities). His wit and unique intelligence, grounded in common sense, gave him both humor and wisdom.

Jonthan enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to experience the beauty of the Pacific, the Atlantic, and the mountains during trips to Mexico, Denver, Alabama, Seattle, Florida, and many other places.

Jonathan will be remembered for his love of anime, Motown, and Soul music as well as the funny nicknames he gave his closest friends and loved ones. A loyal and loving son, Jonathan was a constant companion and help to both his parents.

Jonthan was a believer in Christ and endeavored to live as a good Christian. His lineage reflects generations of strength and faith. He descends from great-great grandparents Myles G. Whitehall of the 62nd U.S. Colored Infantry and Harriet Watson Whitehall, as well as great grand parents Alvin "Ash" Walker of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, and Luella Cornelius Walker of Nevada county, Arkansas-families whose resilience shaped his own.

Jonathan's spirit lives on in peace. We are profoundly thankful for his laughter, loyalty, and the love he shared so freely. We forgive all of his failures in his carnal existence and we ask his forgiveness for our failures. Jonathan will be eternally remembered and loved though our hearts are heavy in this moment.
