I taught with Joe at Central in the 80's one of the nicest person that I have ever known and funny in his dry way. Always made me laugh. I tell Joe stories all the time of events he has shared with me during our teaching journey.

I have so many memories of Uncle Joe, that it´s kind of hard to just name a few.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his various stories ranging from teaching to fishing. He had such a great sense of humor, appreciation for nature and wildlife, and his days of playing music. I´ll never forget how he would laugh hilariously about the song Illinois Enema Bandit. Such a great sense of humor one story he didn´t talk about very often was during his time teaching where he was talking to a student about smoking sausage, and the kid literally thought he was lighting up and "smoking" sausage when in fact Joe was talking about a cooking method.
His attention to detail with his wood carvings that turned out so incredibly detailed, beautiful and life like.
I also enjoyed hearing stories from hunting trips and fishing. I distinctively remember the taxidermy fish he had caught and displayed with great pride. Not going to lie, I´ve always been envious of those monster fish he caught.
I´m so glad that he can finally be at peace and not suffer from any ailment that he dealt with for the past 20 years. He was a good man, had a good heart and a hilarious sense of humor. He will truly be missed.

Joe was one of my student teaching supervisors at South High School in 1969 and he was a teacher at Central High School when I was the principal. He was one of the genuinely nice people I had the opportunity to work with during my career in education. My condolences to his family!
