Leta Holloway Obituary

Leta Joyce Holloway (85) peacefully passed away on April 6, 2024 at home, surrounded by her husband and two daughters. She was born at home on September 24, 1938 in Stanley, Iowa to Leonard & Sylvia Duckett.

Before marriage Leta was secretary for the president of Upper Iowa College and then worked for a title company in California. After marriage she was a devoted housewife and mom, and in later years, she was an insurance enroller for several life insurance companies. Leta's dedication to her family and community was unwavering, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.

Leta was known for her love of golf and played in several women's golf leagues. She was a member and past President of the Garden Ridge Women's Club. She was a beloved library volunteer and member of the Friends of the Library at the Garden Ridge Library. In later years, she loved to attend plays at local theaters with friends and family. She touched the lives of many with her generosity and community volunteerism. Leta was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her memory will forever be cherished.

Leta is survived by her husband of 63 years Richard Holloway, two daughters Yvonne Lovig (Marc) and Cheryl Sutterly (Shawn), brothers Leslie Duckett (Jill) & Gary Duckett, and sisters Judy Hafford (Dave) & Kathleen Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard & Sylvia Duckett.

A Celebration of Life to honor Leta's life will be held at a future date. She will be laid to rest with Richard upon his passing in a family plot in Ft. Atkinson, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on her behalf to the Garden Ridge Library at 9400 Municipal Pkwy, Garden Ridge, TX 78266.
