Lyle Porter

1939 - 2025

Lyle Porter was born on October 6, 1939 in Laurel, Nebraska. After serving in the US Army, Lyle married and worked as a mechanic and owned his own diesel repair shop in South Omaha, Porter's Truck Repair. He then went on to work for Layne Western from where he eventually retired. Lyle and his wife Jean were active members of the Omaha softball community and loved going dancing. Recently Lyle was a member of the Greater Omaha Horseshoe League.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Jean Porter, his son Jay Porter, and his brother Roger Porter Sr. He is survived by his son, Ray Porter (Robyn) of Harlan, Iowa; daughter-in-law Kandy Porter, Omaha, NE; sister Karilyn Watkins (Elmer) of Sioux City, Nebraska; brother Gary Porter (Sally) of Garrett, Indiana; Granddaughter Aubrey Porter of Omaha; Grandson Fay Porter (Aydin) of Omaha, Grandson Aaron Porter of Omaha; one great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Lyle passed away at Hansen House in Harlan, Iowa and will be interred in Bellevue, Nebraska, alongside his wife and son, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
