Marla Sathe Obituary

Marla Sathe

Marla Kay Sathe, age 65, of Yankton, SD, passed away on July 1, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Per Marla's wishes there will be no memorial services. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Onsite Crematory is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences visit www.opsahl-kostelfunealhome.com.

Marla was born December 19, 1958, in Yankton, to Marvin and Vivian (Doering) Sathe. She was the youngest child and only girl in the family. Marla grew up on the Sathe Family homestead Northeast of Mission Hill, SD, and was baptized at Vangen Lutheran Church in Mission Hill, SD. Marla attended nearby Bruget Elementary School until it closed, then finished her education in Mission Hill and Yankton.

After school, Marla moved to Omaha, where she spent most of her adult life, recently moving to Yankton in April of 2024. Marla worked various jobs throughout her life. She spent many years doing custodial work at the Omaha Airport. She was a delivery driver for several local companies throughout the Omaha and Northeastern Nebraska area. During the short time she was married, Marla and her husband drove a semi truck/tractor rig from coast to coast.

The highlight of Marla's life was the time she spent skydiving. She made many tandem and individual jumps. She cherished all the wonderful friends she made during her years with the Lincoln Sport Parachute Club.

Marla is survived by her five brothers, James (Rosmarie) of Idaho Falls, ID, Larry of Yankton, William (Joan) of Eaton, CO, Daniel (Marcia) of Irene, SD, and Chad of Yankton; a very special cousin, Carol Anne Schneider of Lincoln, NE; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and so many great friends throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Corey; her parents and grandparents; her brother, David; and a brother in infancy.

The family requests no flowers and any memorials be directed to Avera@home Hospice and Palliative care.

So sorry to hear about Marla. I enjoyed working with her at the Airport. I ran into her numerous times while she was a Courier. She was always pleasant.
