Patricia Ecklund Obituary

Ecklund, Patricia J.

April 11, 1933 - June 23, 2022

Pat was born and grew up in Wadena, MN. She excelled in music and won many awards and competitions. She entered Wheaton College (Illinois) where she met her husband Bob, and married in 1953 while still a student. After graduation from college she taught Elementary School music in Lombard, IL. At the completion of Bob's medical training, they had their first child, Kristin. Two years of military service followed with son, John being born at the termination of service. The couple returned to Illinois. Bob returned to further medical training and faculty appointment. In 1966 the couple moved to Omaha, NE where Bob joined the faculty of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Pat, with two small children, taught piano for several years.

Pat and Bob joined the Evangelical Covenant Church after their marriage. She was very involved in the local Church and the denomination, serving on regional and national boards and other activities. She was Choir Director for 9 years at First Covenant Church, Omaha, and also served as chairman of the Church.

In later years she was a homemaker. She was a remarkable lady, smart, generous, thoughtful and caring, with a wide range of friends and involvement in many activities. Retirement years were "golden" until she was nearly overcome with painful medical problems. She bore much pain and suffering well, with patience and grace. She frequently cited the lines: there is "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow." Her faith was strong and shared with others.

She is mourned by her husband; 2 children: son, John and daughter, Kristin Swanson; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

May she rest in the arms of Jesus. Memorials to First Covenant Church, Omaha or OneWorld Community Health Centers, Livestock Exchange Building Camps c/o Development Department 4920 S. 30th Street, Omaha, NE 68107
