Patricia Matukewicz Obituary
Patricia M. Matukewicz
December 15, 1947 - November 6, 2025
Patricia "Pat" Matukewicz, born to Ed and Mame Smith on December 15, 1947, entered into eternal rest on November 6, 2025. Pat was born and raised in South Omaha, where she ended up making her home and living for her entire life.
In 1975 she married the love of her life, Paul Matukewicz, and in 1988, Paul and Pat opened Bethany Funeral Home. The funeral home was a labor of love for both of them with Pat assisting with administrative duties. Pat was a hairdresser by trade, and that skill was very helpful as she did the hair of many of the people laid to rest there.
During their marriage, Pat and Paul enjoyed traveling and traveled across the globe together. They traveled to many places across the United States and Europe as well. Pat and Paul were two souls truly meant for one another, and that love lasted even after Paul's passing in 2017. Paul was her everything, and they are now united once more.
If you knew Pat, you would have likely enjoyed one of her many baked goods. Pat loved baking, and her cut out sugar cookies were among many of the favorites. On many holidays you could find her making and delivering her decorated cookies to friends and family. She baked for any event and donated baked goods whenever needed.
Of all the things important to Pat, the top on the list was her faith. Paul was a Deacon, and as a Deacon's wife, she helped with his ministry to many. After Paul's passing, Pat remained extremely involved with her church and faith organizations. Pat diligently prayed the rosary or offered devotions daily.
Pat loved her family, and they were a top priority as well. Pat was one of seven children, and she and her siblings enjoyed many wonderful times and adventures together. They all remained in Omaha and stayed close throughout her life. Pat had many nieces and nephews, and she loved them like her own children. They brought so much happiness to her, and she more than returned that happiness to them. They will miss hearing her ask for her Buziaka, which means kiss in Polish.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Matukewicz, founder and owner of Bethany Funeral Home; and brothers, Ed Smith and Tom Smith.
She is survived by her sisters, Rita Tomes, Judy (Fred) Vak, Kathy Chruma, and Eileen Peetz; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
