Ramon Frank Pred, age 94, died on Saturday February 21, 2026 in Overland Park, Kansas. Ray was born in Lyons, Nebraska on December 6, 1931.

Ray was an all-conference football player for Lyons High School. Ray served in the army during the Korean War. He met and married the love of his life Gwendolyn Shapiro in 1957 in Omaha where they began to build their family. In 1959, they welcomed a baby boy Mark Pred and in 1961 Marshall Pred was born.

Ray spent his career working in the fine men's clothing business owning both Ray Pred's Menswear and then The Wardrobe for Men in Omaha. Ray was a passionate golfer and played well into his 80's. He was a voracious reader, particularly of mystery's. He was a romantic and prolific poet, writing a poem to Gwen for every Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, birthday and anniversary.

Ray loved being with his family most. Ray is survived by his wife Gwen of 68 years; two sons, Mark (Devon Coffey) and Marshall (Gayla Brockman); granddaughters, Gabby Pred (Mike Galyardt) and Hannah Pred, many nieces and nephews and seven grand dogs.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11 am at Beth El Cemetery at 4700 S. 84th Street. Please do not send flowers. Donations may be made to the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, Beth El Synagogue or a charity of your choice.
