Age 53, of Springfield, NE. Loving husband, father, brother and son passed away peacefully at home during the Rosary. Preceded in death by father Edwin; sister Jane; and niece Nicole. Survived by wife Sigrid; sons, Alex and Adam; stepdaughter Marijke Thompson; mother Catherine Heimes; brothers and sisters, Mike and Ceil Heimes, Patricia and Jim Bisignano, Jr., Phil and Joan Heimes, Ruth and John Bergmann, Laura and Dave Brown, Gail and Patrick Davis, Jackie Heimes, Tom and Michelle Heimes; nieces and nephews, Jason, Jenea, Julie, Kendra, Megan, Andrew, Nanette, Nick, Christian, Kennedy and William. In 1991 Ray established Heimes Excavating, now Heimes Corp. Ray believed the dedicated employees of Heimes Corp. were part of his extended family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-7pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL Wednesday 10:30am, St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield or St. Thomas More Catholic Church. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

With this time of social distancing of covid19,
I have relied on my faith in Gods will, knowing His path for me is shown through helping others.
When I was given the opportunity to create the Crucifix for St Joseph I needed my faith strengthened, God provided that strength through you two. Thank you for all that you have done for me, our parish and spreading the good news of the Lord.

Sigrid, Remember always no one can take those memories from you. They are yours forever. I was blessed to have my beloved husband for 15 years. He has been gone for 12 and each and every Memory is as fresh as the day it happened. God Bless your family Lizzie Kros and Harry Rudolph

Thank you to everyone who sent cards, brought food, ran errands and gave money in memory of Ray. Also those who came to town and made time for his family it means so much to us all.
I was married to the most kind wonderful man in the world. He was an awesome husband and dad I miss him a lot but carry so many beautiful memories of the time I did get.

Ray struck me as a man of great character, integrity and generousity. The more I got to know him those attributes really became apparent. The community of Springfield will miss him.

Ray was a great friend, customer, and advisor to me for 15 years. He helped me with business and personal issues and always told me to keep my chin up. He was the most loyal man I had ever had the plesure of dealing with. I wish we had more time for riding our motorcycles together. You'll be missed forever but never forgotten.

Ray was such a great man. He got me through some tough times in my life. He would take time out his day to come see me at the gas station, to see how things were going. He was a great listener, and knowledgeable adviser. I are so blessed to have had the opportunity to have met this man.

"To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

The world has lost a true hero and friend. Ray modeled his faith with so many acts of kindness and was a genuine friend, mentor and coach to those that were lucky enough to have known him. Our sympathy to the entire Heimes family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Although I only met Ray a couple of times, he was, as everyone had described him to me, "good people". Please take comfort in knowing that Ray is in Heaven and is no longer in pain.

My favorite stories about Ray are the ones I hear in 3rd person. Someone will see the Heimes logo on me and ask "So you work for Heimes huh" Then this total stranger will proceed tell some absolutely amazing story about a random act of kindness they witnessed or experienced with Ray Heimes. It makes me feel blessed to know I work and learned from one of the "good" guys. A perfect example on how someone should walk with Jesus. See you in heaven boss.

I am so sorry to hear of Ray's death. He was a great benefactor to the South Sarpy School District and helped so many people in so many ways. I had the honor to listen to him speak to my students several times. He had such a wonderful story to share and truly made an impact on the many lives he touched. My prayers are with the family.

Yesterday was a diffucult day for Ray's second family (His employees) He will be greatly missed, I have spent many years knowing,talking,and working with such a great boss!!!! We been threw thick and thin at times but Ray always made the outcome enjoyable.He is one of the smartest buisness man I have ever known (Heck he hired me!)Ray you will be missed Love you bud. Popper

Ray was a great friend and neighbor for many years. Was great fun to get him excited about the sears tractor pulling tractor bug :) It was also great to work with him during the Dist 46 bond issue. Ray was always someone that I looked up to and admired. I have nothing but fond memories of him. I feel blessed to have known him.

Ray's legacy will live on forever. He was such a good person and his family was the most important thing to him.
He was such a trooper and fought such a battle with courage, hope, and his faith.
