Harrison, Richard Louis "Lou"

February 28, 1936 - August 29, 2022

Richard Louis "Lou" Harrison was born on February 28, 1936. His parents were Horton and Elnora Harrison. He attended and was graduated from Grand Island Public Schools.

He was employed by Union Pacific for 15 years working in Grand Island, Beatrice, North Platte, Millard and the headquarters in Omaha, NE.

Lou was an active member of Presbyterian Church of the Cross. He taught Sunday School, was a choir member, an elder and a long-term member of the Cross Chords male quartet. He was an active 60 year member of the Millard Lions Club, including serving as District Governor. Lou was a charter member of the Southwest YMCA of Omaha and a founder of the Old Millard East Neighborhood Association. He and his wife Faythe were active liaison members with American Field Service (AFS) and the Millard Public Schools for several years.

In 1968, Lou became an agent with Occidental Life Insurance Company and Transamerica in California. He earned his CLU Chartered Life Underwriter and ChFC Chartered Financial Consultant designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania and his LUTCF designation. Lou was an active member of NAIFA and he went through the chairs and became President of the Omaha Association of Life Underwriters and the State Association of Life Underwriters. He later worked for his son, Timothy's business, Harrison Financial Services, until retirement.

Lou was a devoted and loving family man who enjoyed sharing his love of singing, fishing, basketball and football. He was a longtime member of the Omaha Symphonic Chorus. In 2016 the Millard Business Association inducted Lou into the Millard Business Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Patricia McClellan and Marilyn Bloomquist. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl (Doug) Jensen; his wife, Faythe; children: Terry (Harold) Weiss, Tracy Lou (Lisa), Shawn, Timothy (Traci), and Jeffrey Harrison; grandchildren: Gennevieve Weiss (Banti Iteffa), Kathryn, Sarah (Carlson) Koch, William, and Lauren and Blake Harrison; great-grandchildren, Anna, John and Daniel Helzer; nieces; nephews; and many friends and co-workers.

The SERVICE Celebrating Lou Harrison's life will be held at Presbyterian Church of the Cross, 1517 S. 114th Street, Omaha, on Saturday, September 10, at 11am. Memorials to Presbyterian Church of the Cross.
