Richard died in Omaha, NE. Born in Smithsburg, MD. Retired Officer US Army, WWII Veteran; Member of Military Officers Association Heartland Chapter, Offutt AFB, NE. Retired Director Chemical and Environmental Laboratories Union Pacific Railroad. Previously employed by Western Maryland Railway Co., Hagerstown, MD. He was a Member of various technical and professional societies and Past President National Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association. Member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, and previously a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD, as well as a member of the American Legion Post #1 and the BPOE Lodge #39. Preceded in death by wife of 50 years, June E.; parents, Sylvester and Margaret Holmes; and brother, Marvin D. Holmes. Survived by daughters, Sandra K., Port Townsend, WA, and Sheryl J., Seattle, WA; and twin grandsons, Dustin and Joel DiMauro, Santa Cruz, CA.
MEMORIAL SERVICE Thursday 11am at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, 2650 Farnam Street, Omaha. Private Family Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park. JOHN A. GENTLEMAN MORTUARIES
