Had the privilege of working with Rich over the years on the OFD. I've told others, and also told Rich about a year ago, that he was the best all-around firefighter I ever saw in nearly 35 years on the job. And I meant it.
He had the competence, the leadership, and the respect of both his subordinates and his superiors. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was out of town when he passed away.

Nancy and Gina,Please accept my deepest sympathies. Rich was certainly, one great man. Gary told me that there was no one better to work for. He was truly supportive of Gary as well as all the other firemen. Rich always spoke so highly of his family. Rich will surely be missed by all.

Nancy, when we worked together at IBM in the 1970's, you were a newlywed. I remember how you talked about your husband so lovingly. Although I have not seen you since that time, I have thought about you often. Hold your memories close to your heart as I know there are many happy ones.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and all those who knew and loved Rich. Although I never had the chance to get to know Rich very well, I always viewed him a man of great integrity and class. From all firefighters who worked under Rich, I never heard one critical comment, only good things. He performed well in every job from firefighter to Assistant Chief. As they say, he was one of the great ones. May God Bless his wife, family and friends in this time of sorrow.

Nancy and Family, Words cannot express our deep sadness for all of you. Dick was a wonderful human being who touched and enriched many lives. He was such a wonderful friend to Ray both on and off the job. He always took time to show how much he cared about each and every person. Nancy, you were everything to Dick. Gina, you were the apple of his eye and he was so very proud of you and Brandon both. He absolutely adored those grandsons. It is a tremendous loss to all losing such a wonderful man.
