Bob was one of my best friends throughout grade school and those memorable high school days.
We were very active in the Tilden Boy Scout troop -- competing to see who would earn their Eagle scout ring first. He beat me, as I recall.
Bob was one of the sharpest guys I've ever known. I will cherish the wood carvings he did for me (and surprised me with) when I retired, and later honored me with at my 75th-year gathering in Lincoln.
He got to Heaven before me. See you there, Bob.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, as you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
