Being new to Nebraska, I have only known Bob Florell for approximately two years since he and Idonna moved into the Knolls. I soon found out we had much in common. Both grew up as farm boys. Neither of us seriously considered college until late in high school. We both obtained B.S. degrees in Agriculture Education. We share similar views on child rearing and have successful families.
Bob Florell is to be admired for his serious approach to life, always striving to do his best. Even though his beginnings were humble, doors opened for him for which he was ready and willing to take advantage. One of the focuses of his life, as he expressed to me, was to help people resolve the conflicts they encountered in their professional life and therefore be more successful. He was a man of faith who believed God had a plan for his life and it was his duty to do the best he could to fulfill that plan.
I will forever remember Bob as a friend who invited me to attend grief counseling with him; we had both lost our partners within a month. Through that he enabled me to expand my circle of Nebraska friends. He invited me to attend his Wednesday morning coffees with his friends and I gained more Nebraska friends. In a short span Bob made a positive impact on my life, he will be missed.

Bob was my advisor when I worked on my master´s degree as a graduate assistant in the State Cooperative Extension Office. I was the first Extension Home Economist to serve as graduate assistant in the program to assist Extension Agents to attain their Master´s Degrees in Nebraska. We worked together on a schedule of classes, research projects and experiences that would benefit my work as an Extension Home Economist. Before I was selected for the assistantship, it had helped Agricultural Agents to earn their Master´s Degrees. He was instrumental in my attaining my Master´s and enjoying a career as an Extension Educator. I am grateful to Bob for his guidance and encouragement. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
