Robert C. Perry

1949 - 2024

Robert C. Perry Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Born October 9, 1949 in Fremont and residing there at his death, Bob graduated from Archbishop Bergan Catholic High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University and Master of Arts in Photography and Cinema from Ohio State University. As an artist, Bob expressed himself through his poetry, paintings, wood carving, composing and singing. His art was exhibited in Atlanta's Public Libraries and galleries in the US. The banjo and guitar were his constant companions to enchant others with different ways of being, to create a caring world of our own. Bob had a love of the past, looking under rocks in Winterset, IA and tribal villages of Peru, putting purpose and perspective to his life. His beacon was his family, the intellectual curiosity in books, companions and travels across many seas. Bob lived Emerson's rule = the only way to have a friend is to be one. He was authentic.

Bob is survived by stepmother Faith Perry, Fremont; daughter Michelle (Dean) Elliott, Omaha; granddaughters Ariel (Tyler) Elliott, Austin, TX and Jennifer (Zach) Greaves and great grandchildren Teddy and Olive Greaves, all Lincoln, NE. Survived by sisters Barb (Jerry) Dahlhauser and Beth Tonkinson, both Omaha; Beverly (Bill) Pook, Las Vegas, and Kelly Hiatt, Phoenix, AZ. Survived by brothers Mark (Kathleen) Hiatt, Omaha, Brian Perry and Bill Perry, both Fremont, and Mike (Adrienne) Hiatt, Phoenix. Survived by spouse Christina Newhouse, Murphy, NC, nineteen nieces and nephews, many loving cousins, and lifelong partner Jule Bishop. Predeceased by parents Bob and Kathy, sister, Becca and spouse Patty Benton. Services are set for Sunday, March 10, 1:00 PM at the Fremont Area Art Association, 92 West 6th St. Memorials in lieu of flowers to Fremont Area Art Association.
