Roger and I spent as lot of time together as adolescents and as teens. I probably spent more time with Roger and Dean than I did any of my other cousins. It si unfortunate that as life sweeps us into adult hood that many of those wonderful relationships we had are thought to perpetuate themselves with no efforts on our part. It is with deep regret that I mourn Rogers passing. I always thought I would look that side of the family up again on one of those trips to NE and all the immediate things that always come up in today world got in the way.
May God Bless Roger in heaven and his family left here on Earth.

Kathy and family, I was so sorry to hear about Roger's accident. The staff at our preschool in Papillion was fortunate to know Roger through his CPR training. He was such a helpful man. My prayers are with your family.

Ralph and I were in Phoenix so did not hear about this until we returned. We just want to tell you that you and your family are in our prayers.
You and the others were so kind to me when I was tossed into your lab I will never forget it. I miss not visiting with you but seems like I am always on the run when at IMC.

For Kathy and Family, I think by reading this book it is apparent just how many people Roger has touched. Please include me in that list. Roger was my FTO while gaining my Paramedic and I used a little bit of Roger when I trained Paramedics. Roger's heart and work will always be around the Fire/Medical community of Nebraska. Even in this moment of great sadness he will always be fondly remembered, and be a part of those whose lives he touched.

What a privilege it was to know and work with Roger. While at the American Heart Association our paths crossed many times. He would often stop by the office to get materials for his classes and I always enjoyed great visits with him. Close to my retirement I learned of Roger's love of hunting and I shared with him some of my pheasant feather creations. I was so honored when he asked me to make him an initial. He later brought me some of the most beautiful feathers I have ever seen. Although Roger's life was over far too soon, he has left an indelible imprint that will live on....

Mrs. Kruger and Boys: I am also one of those fire collector nuts that had met Roger while in pursuit of another grenade that we both just had to have. I will miss visiting with him about our collections. When I visited with him this summer about the history of one of the fire trucks from Omaha Fire he was a great help in steering me in the right direction.

I know for certain that we never loose the people we love, even to death. Roger will continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. His friendship leaves an indelible imprint in my memories. I find comfort in knowing that my life has been enriched by having shared the times we had teaching together. Roger was always one to help you when asked. He served his community faithfully as a firefighter and EMT. He helped educate our teachers annually with CPR and First Aid classes. He helped haul the donated empty cans to the recycler for the school. His soft speech and kind heart will be missed by all at Gethsemane Lutheran Church and School. We rejoice that he is now serving God full time for the rest of eternity. Kathy, Dustin, Kyle and Corey; you're all in our prayers as you heal from this sudden loss. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Roger was a truly great guy. It is amazing to think of all the lives that he saved directly through his career on the OFD and indirectly through teaching CPR and First Aid. I am one of the CPR Instructors who taught under his direction. Shortly after renewing the CPR skills for a co-worker, That co-worker saved the life of another co-worker. Roger had an energy and enthusiasm for being a life saver that will not be easily replaced. The Omaha community will have a large void without him.

Pam and I just heard tonight about Roger and we are deeply saddened. I worked with Roger in the "early" E.M.T. years back in York, Nebraska for York County Ambulance Service. One thing of many that stood out with Roger even then was "Professional" He was true to his job,family and God. Kathy,Dustin,Kyle,and Corey. Please know he his sitting up in Heaven looking down from that great Firehouse #1 and smiling !!!

As I sit here trying to find the right words to bring comfort and peace; I am reminded of the many great moments we shared while living in York and Omaha; the late night movies, taking the EMT course together, riding in the "duck truck", working at the hospital and being 'on-call' together, bowling league, New Years Eve, so much fun and many memories I will cherish. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of a sudden loss like this; but if caring thoughts can help, they are with you and the boys right now.

We were so sad to hear of Roger's passing. Not only was he a great neighbor back in Roanoke, but he remained a great friend. My dad was lucky enough to have Roger help him on the Veteran's Honor Flight #7 and join us for the Honor Flight Reunion. He will be a great man in Heaven. God only takes the best.

Like Roger, I was a fellow firefighter (Minneapolis F.D.) a fellow ebayer, and a fellow fire grenade collector. I first met Roger in Walnut, Iowa antique show in 1993. Over the years, we made lots of deals and told many stories of our hunt for those elusive rare grenades. In the fire grenade hobby, Roger was known from coast to coast and will be deeply missed. On behalf of Rogers fellow collectors, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

EMS and it's education is like a ripple effect in a pond. Roger was the rock that created the ripple. His students went out and became amazing providers, some of them became educators, and every one of them touched a life. He knew what was important, whether in teaching, patient care or state regs. There is no way to count the number of lives he touched, the lives he changed the outcome of, or the impression he made along his path. He was devoted to his family and spoke of them often.
