I will always remember Dr Roskens´ kindness and help following the death of my wife. We didn´t know each other well at that time but his call of sympathy and his offer of help to me would be a blessing to me, my family and the church I was serving. His kindness was backed up by caring deeds. When I needed a break in the pulpit he would fill in and when the church building project was being held back by a zoning fight he came before the Omaha City Council to speak for our congregation. He spoke not only of the issues but of the spiritual implications of what we were trying to do. I believe his words and presence were responsible for our success before the Council.
I treasure his friendship and his help and give thanks to God for his support and friendship.

I have so many fond memories of Dr. Roskens, from his time with the University system. He was so kind to my parents Dr Ted and Alice Doane. He will be greatly missed!! He used to come into the Nebraska Center on East Campus and request to sit in my section. He always ate a salad and drank Diet Pepsi. This was in the mid to late 80's, and he would give me a $50 tip! That was a whopper. Just shows his kindness and regard for the poor working college student. Working at UNO, I get to see the building named after him every day. Lois, I'm so sorry for your loss of this amazing pillar of strength. Please know that I am thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way.

I first got to know Ron and Lois when my wife, Anne, and I accompanied them on their first trip to China in 1979. The trip was wonderful. I continue to use images from that trip when I give China talks. Ron was a great leader and in getting very early faculty exchanges between Chinese universities and the University of Nebraska campuses, which continue today. My greatest interactions with Ron were when I was UNL Faculty Senate President from 1988 to 1989. We talked at Regents meetings, outside gatherings and, now and then, in private meetings about University business. I continued to be in contact with Ron after each of my many trips to China before and after that.

I will miss Ron very much. He was a great leader of the University of Nebraska. Anne and I offer our condolences to Lois and Ron's family.
