Rose Holmes Obituary

Holmes, Rose

January 14, 1939 - July 15, 2022

Ft. Worth, TX, formerly of Bellevue, NE. Loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, colleague, and neighbor.

Survived by siblings: Dwaine (Dee) Hoffman, Joan Koehler, Sr. Patricia Hoffman, Dennis Hoffman, Peg Petersen, and Dave (Cindy) Hoffman; husband, Marlan: children: Michael (Ann) Holmes, Katherine (Mike) Donovan, and Bruce (Becky) Holmes; grandchildren: Kelley (Jacqueline) Phillips, Mary Beth (Victor Quach) Holmes, Allison (Sean McClean) Donovan, Brett Holmes, and Alexis Holmes; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Phillips; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Rose made famously fabulous fudge and the perfect potato salad. She loved tending all of her plants, decorating for Christmas, ironing-everything/anything with a wrinkle-and spending time with family and friends.

MANY students at Fort Crook Elementary and Bellevue West High School knew her as Mrs. Holmes, the secretary, who ALWAYS offered a helping hand, kind words, a little tough love when needed, and attended school concerts, shows, and games alike. She worked for Bellevue Public Schools for 32 years. Rose was Mom to many, many, many children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marie (Weeder) Hoffman; siblings: Rolanda Johnson, Cece Joy, and Jim Hoffman; brothers-in-law: Darwin Johnson, Paul Swing, Bill Joy, Don Koehler, and Loren Petersen; sister-in-law Marilyn Hoffman; and grandson Evan Donovan.

Funeral Service pending. Interment will be at the Omaha National Cemetery. Memorials to the family for later designation.
Published by Omaha World-Herald from Jul. 22 to Jul. 24, 2022.
