Scott James Obituary

Scott A. James

September 14, 1955 - September 23, 2025

Born September 14, 1955, passed peacefully September 23, 2025.

Preceded in death by parents, Max and Jennie James; in-laws, Dale and Alma Stofferson; and brother-in-law, Terry Stofferson.

He is survived by wife, Linda (Stofferson) James; children, Sean James, Lindsay James, and Brynna (Will) Mackley; sister, Margie (Steve) Bross; stepchildren, Jeff (Kayla) Butler, Lisa Butler (Rod Atwater); along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Scott was a graduate of Omaha Benson High, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering, and the University of Nebraska Executive MBA program. He held positions with AT&T, Wells Engineering, and St. Joseph Creighton University Hospital, then joined Tenet Healthcare in the Administration division in St. Louis before retiring after more than 20 years of service.

Scott was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He loved to golf, brew a mug of bold dark coffee, and smoke a good cigar, not necessarily in that order. His interests were varied, from model trains, in particular the Lionel and HO series, and genealogy, tracing the James family history back to the 1500s, to woodworking, fishing, scuba diving, underwater photography, collecting specialty pens, and all things Las Vegas. He was an avid fan of UNL sports, NASCAR, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and both St. Louis Blues and Las Vegas Golden Knight hockey.

The family wishes to express their profound thanks for the compassionate care Scott received in the Emergency and Intensive Care units at Methodist Hospital, and to the staff of Live On Nebraska for their support in this difficult time.

Per his wishes, there will be no services.

Memorials are suggested to the UNL College of Engineering.
