Steve Sidner Obituary
February 9, 1950 - June 19, 2022
Born in Omaha, NE to Wilbur and Evelyn (Leeper) Sidner. He graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He worked as a software engineer for over 40 years, with publishing credits for several industry standards in the software identity and security sector.
He was a longtime member of the Nebraska Zen Center, Treasurer for the Blues Society of Omaha, and Mode Shift of Omaha advocate. Sid recently returned to beekeeping, was actively following the progress of the James Webb Space Telescope, and kept an ever watchful eye on the state of politics. He will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, enthusiastic humor, and generosity in a variety of capacities.
He is survived by his partner of 15 years, Joan Crouchley; children, Don Boyle, Cris Wolff (Jason Tiedtke), Sky Sidner (Anne Proulx), Diane Seaver; grandchildren, Ashley Evon (Jordan), Connor Tiedtke.
Details for Celebration of Life to be announced. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Food Bank for the Heartland

For the time I knew him in Omaha, he was not only my boss for a while, but he was mentor and my best friend. I learned so much about how to be human from Sid. I am so glad I got the opportunity a few months ago to tell him how much of an impact he had on me, and how much I looked up to him. We kept in spotty touch through the years but I could always count on getting his Christmas card. For some reason he thought Christmas was in March I guess because I could always count on getting it early in February. We shared a good laugh about that on more than one occasion. There are literally too many stories to recount, but I'll be living in them now for a while. Condolences to those he constantly talked about, Don, Christine, Sky, and Diane, and Joan. You are all so lucky to have had him in your lives, as are the rest of us. Rest friend, we'll see each other again soon. it Looks Like Rain while we're Truckin' down The Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion. Every silver lining has a Touch of Grey, now, In the Attics of my Life. There is a Ripple in my Box of Rain.

Sympathies to all of the family on Sid's passing. I had the privilege of working with Sid at ACI for several years. He was a great engineer and always ready to help anyone or any project that was struggling. Sid was a pleasure to work with as he was always full of ideas along with the vim and vigor to make them happen. Blessings to Sid and all of his family.
