NAPLES - Marjorie "Marge" H. Weaver, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at the age of 88 in
Naples, Florida, surrounded by her loving family.
Marge was born to Robert Eugene Holeton and Rachel Lippincott Flitcraft in Philadelphia and grew up on a dairy farm in Woodstown, New Jersey. Her early memories included delivering milk with her grandfather. She moved to Maplewood, New Jersey, where her father worked for DuPont. She fondly remembered him conducting chemical experiments in their basement.
Her father's job then took the family to Bellevue, Washington, where Marge attended the University of Washington. In 1957, she married James S. Weaver Jr., "the boy next door" from Maplewood. Marge and Jim attended Cornell University together and graduated in 1959. Marge received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, while Jim earned a Master of Business Administration. The couple enjoyed a long honeymoon in Europe and North Africa, where they took "photographic slides" of architecture and art to share with professors in the United States who had little access to such images.
Jim's career took the family, including their three children, to
Baltimore, MD;
Summit, NJ;
Youngstown, OH;
Harrisburg, PA; and back to Baltimore. During these years, Marge was active in the Junior League of Baltimore and earned her professional rating from the U.S. Tennis Association. She taught tennis during the summers and skiing at Roundtop Mountain Resort during the winters. She was also a AAA travel agent and achieved the rank of Master Cruise Counsellor. Marge and Jim enjoyed golf, tennis, and social activities as members of Baltimore CC, L'Hirondelle Club (Baltimore), Canoe Brook CC (
Summit, NJ), Youngstown CC, Harrisburg CC, West Shore CC (Camp Hill, PA), and Royal Poinciana GC (Naples).
Marge and Jim enjoyed many international trips and dozens of cruises in retirement. They began visiting Naples in 1968 and made Florida their permanent home in 2005. Widowed in 2017, Marge continued to lead an active and engaged life. She was a long-time member of Moorings Presbyterian Church. She was involved in The League Club, Naples Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter, Forum Club of Naples, Circumnavigators Club, and Colonial Dames. She was a member of Naples Botanical Garden and Artis-Naples for many years. She also enjoyed membership at Royal Poinciana Golf Club, where she won the inaugural Super Seniors Club Championship at age 82. She could often be found in water aerobics class, watercolor painting, playing ukulele, and riding her tricycle in her community. After her daughter Roberta moved to Naples in 2019, the two were frequently seen dining together, modeling in fashion shows, attending concerts, theater, and church events, and hosting joyful gatherings.
Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, James S. Weaver Jr. (2017), and her sister Roberta Ethelston (2012); and is survived by her siblings Carol Collins, Robert Holeton Jr. (Gayle), and Richard Holeton (Veronica); her children Earle Weaver (Rebecca), Roberta Weaver, and Scott Weaver (Deborah); eight grandchildren: Jenna Hoertz (Brian), Julie Schuldt, Sarah Weaver, Michael Weaver (Julia), Thomas Weaver, Joseph Weaver, Allison Schuldt, and Peter Weaver; and her great-grandson, Owen Hoertz, whom she was blessed to meet recently.
She was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived fully and beautifully - capable and vibrant. She carried herself with grace, humor, and authenticity. A genuine friend, her presence brightened every room. Her radiant light now lives on in every life she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive,
