A memorial service is scheduled at Beth El Synagogue, 14506 California at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, with a reception following. Memorials may be directed to the family for a proposed playground at Elmwood Park, or to the Nebraska Humane Society. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

Dear Debra,
I am so sorry to learn about Steven's death. Sol and Lee Jane were special to our family and Lee Jane was my mother's, Elaine Remis, first cousin and best friend. After my mom's death, Sol had called and I regret that I did not keep in touch as I intended. My brother learned about Steve's and Sol's death when he did an internet search yesterday. I had met Steven when I visited Omaha many years. I also think I may have met you as well. There are no words that can expess how sad I feel. I hope you are able to make some sense of this tragedy and are doing okay. Take care.

We were saddened to hear of Steve's passing. Steve always remembered our name and was always very gracious when we stopped in the store. He knew what David had in his wardrobe better than David did. We will miss him.

I cleaned for Steve at Parsows for a year and very much liked Steve and got a real kick out of his humor.

Debra -
It has taken me awhile to write this, as I am having a very hard time coming to terms with this. I'm not there yet. I saw you guys on the trail Wednesday morning, and was disappointed I didn't see you Thursday or Friday. I just figured you moved up your start time on those days. Then I read the morning paper, and find myself at the memorial service for Steve a few hours later. If I didn't come up and see you, it was because I was in complete denial. Steve was a good friend, and I consider myself fortunate to have known him. I'll miss his smile, sense of humor, good nature and kind soul. If you ever need some company on a morning run, let me know.

Steve and the entire Parsow family, especially Debra and David, please know you have been in my thoughts and prayers since I learned about this tragedy Thursday night. I will always remember Steve as a truly caring man. A man who cared about his family as evidenced by the pride he shared with me in his wife and his nephews who worked with him during the holidays. He cared about his customers including my two sons. My sons found Steve to be a very special person not only because of his phenomenal recall but because he appreciated the differences between them. Steve not only understood their clothing preferences but also their needs professionally and personally. I define a true sales professional as one who develops genuine relationships with his customers and is always willing to go the extra mile to satisfy real customer needs. Steve and I met in grade school and dated a bit during college when he was a student in Seattle and I was a student in Minnesota. He will always have a special place in my heart. I am so sad that he is no longer in this world.

I am saddened by Steve's absence in this world. I have known him since Lewis and Clark Jr. High. He had such a gentlemanly air about him. I cannot imagine the sorrow and pain you are experiencing. I am also very impressed by your ability to educate during this time of grief. The fact that most people don't know about whether or not they have a bee sting allergy is so frightening. My doctor tested me this year and I have it also. How else would one know? Thank you for alerting so many to such a dangerous risk. Steven’s death seems a stunning statistical outcome, a possible error, indeed. Perhaps one answer to this brazen random skewing lies in the equation that Steven always ranked among the few. He was, indeed, a fine and stalwart prince among humankind. Steven’s death reminds each of us of our own fragility and is a wake up call to survivors, ala Yeats, to “animate the trivial days and ram them with the sun.”

I just found out this evening about Steven. I am so very sorry for your loss. I only met Steven that one time. It was the day after I arrived in Omaha with no luggage. You took me over to meet him and see the store. He was so nice! He made such nice comments about my Wal-Mart clothes I had on that I had purchased the night before at midnight. He said, "You should have called us and we could have opened the store for you". Here was a man I had never met, but he would have been willing to open his store for me in the middle of the night. As I read through many of the other Guest Book entries I realize what a tremendous loss this is for the Omaha community. May God bless you all at the time of loss. Like many other entries here, Steve was a good friend in high school through AZA youth group programs. He was someone you could always talk with.
Though the basketball competition was fierce, Steve was always the biggest mensch on the court. He would always be friends with guys on both sides of the court.

Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Steve's passing. My memories of Steve go way back to Pee Wee basketball at the old JCC, our 4/5 split class at Harrison Elementary, and then of course, AZA #1 during high school. Although I had not spoken to Steve in over 25 years and have been gone from Omaha for almost as long, I will never forget him. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

To the Parsow family - My husband and I live in Virginia but have been customers of Steve's for a number of years and thought so highly of him. Added to the joy of coming to see my daughter and her family in Omaha was usually a trip to Parsows to see Steve - we really looked forward to that and had told him on the phone recently we would be in later this month. It was always great fun to watch Steve see how much he could get my husband to buy and became a great game between them. We would always spend more then we intended but leave happy and fully entertained by Steve. During the years, Steve talked lovingly about his wife and family and we felt we really came to know him as a friend. His memory was amazing - once he met you, he would never forget anything you told him even if you walked in and caught him "off guard." Steve was one of the most special people we have ever met and we held him in the highest fondness and esteem. We send our deepest sympathy to his wife and all of his family. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I was very sad to hear of Steve's death and my family and I send our love and support. Steve was an important part of my high school years when, as members of AZA #1, we were a small group of young men that supported each other with no reservations and no judgments. We knew each other from Central High....I have been In Los Angeles for 27 years, and every trip back, I would always stop by the shop to see Steve.Occasionally, i would buy some shirts, and he would send them out to me.I own a retail leather store, and every time I would visit,I would leave happy,energized, and inspired. He is my retail maven hero.He had a way about him that would make you feel very special, and it was genuine. I just visited him in July and brought my two children to meet him. They enjoyed meeting him and were as shocked and saddened as I was .I will always remember and enjoy his energy,his smile,the sound of his voice and the rhythm of his speech, and his deep loving spirit.Steve , i love you , and I will miss you , and I will always remember you.......and yes , next trip back, I will stop by the shop to say Hi.....Sal...

We were so saddened by the email today informing us of Steve's sudden death. We knew Steve through the store and he always remembered us no matter how long between visits. While in the store, we always exhanged sports stories and plenty about the Huskers and Huskies. Steve was a tremendous ambassador for Parsows and Omaha and he will be sorely missed by all. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Dear Debra and the entire Parsow Family,
Steve and "Parsow's" have been part of our lives forever and they were "part of the family". First Sol and then Steve always found us what we needed and the clothes, opinions and service were first-rate. Most of my trips home to Omaha included a visit to Parsow's with my Dad and other family members. The experience was enjoyable and very worthwhile in every way. Steve was one of the best at his vocation of anyone I have ever known and I will cherish his memory.

We were saddened to hear of Steve's unexpected loss. Steve and I became acquainted through business at Parsow's. I enjoyed working with him and he was always so helpful in keeping my wardrobe quite up to date! He always treated my wife and I as if we were the only customers in the store especially when he had produce to share. He was a great friend to the Nebraska Humane Society as well.
