Dr. Syed M. Mohiuddin, born in India in 1934, and a resident of Omaha, NE, passed away on November 20th, 2023. He is preceded by his beloved wife, Ayesha, and is survived by his children, Sameena (Juergen), Rashid (Cary), and Kulsoom, as well as his grandchildren, Sarah, Alia, Jared, Abraham, and Gretchen. He also leaves behind a great-grandchild, Kira, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Syed received his medical degree from Osmania University in India, completed his residency in internal medicine at Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC), and pursued cardiovascular fellowship training at The Cardiac Center of CUMC. He further earned a Doctor of Science in Medicine degree at Laval University in Quebec, Canada. From 1996 to 2007, he served as the Chief of the School of Medicine Division of Cardiology and director of the Cardiac Center. Additionally, he held the position of Chair of the Department of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine from 2007 to 2012. Dr. Mohiuddin was passionate about connecting with and helping his patients and sharing his generous wealth of knowledge as an instructor.

He was a founding member of the India Association of Nebraska, the American Muslim Institute, and the Tri-Faith Initiative. Dr. Mohiuddin dedicated his efforts to sparking dialogue between people of all faiths and creating an environment built on inclusivity. He will be remembered for his compassion, leadership, and dedication to his faith, career, and family.

A visitation and burial were held on November 21st, 2023. A celebration of Syed's life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Muslim Institute.
