Theresa Foster

Theresa Foster, 71, beloved wife of Staff Sergeant John Thomas Foster, completed her earthly tour of duty on October 18, 2025, in Omaha, NE.

A proud matriarch, Theresa followed in the footsteps of her mother, Theresa, and grandmother, Cecelia, becoming the heart of a large family bound together by joyful traditions-especially her legendary Fourth of July celebrations filled with intergenerational lawn games and fireworks.

Theresa's love extended far beyond family. She offered compassion and encouragement to friends of her children and grandchildren, members of her church community, and anyone who needed a listening ear. Her quick wit and quiet wisdom brought comfort to many. She welcomed everyone without judgment or prejudice, living out the Christian value of unconditional love.

Her life was marked by resilience and strength. As the wife of a non-commissioned Air Force officer, she navigated eight duty stations across the U.S. and Germany, raising children born far from home in Mississippi, Arizona, and Utah. She endured the heartbreaking loss of her youngest daughter, Mary Foster Merriweather, and later cared for her aging father until his peaceful passing in her home. Throughout every challenge, she remained steadfast in faith and found strength in God and her devoted partner-always affectionately called "Foster."

Theresa is survived by her husband John; children Dee Foster (Thailand), John Foster Jr. and wife Tabitha (North Carolina), and Amy Roberts and husband David (Omaha); grandchildren Dylan, Kristen, and Masen Haynes; Mercy Engel and husband Adam; Serenity and Faith Roberts; great-grandchildren August, Milo, Josiah, and Kayde; sister Linda Dragon and husband Dennis; Aunt Dorothy; Cousin Lou Lukas; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Foster Merriweather and parents Bill and Theresa Beckwith.

Services were held at Christ Community Church on Friday, October 31, 2025. Her remains will be interred at Omaha National Cemetery in a private ceremony.

Her legacy of love continues to shine brightly through all those she touched.
