Mr Kidd was my teacher and coach from 1958 to 1964. His guidance is with me to this day. Thank you Coach. May God bless the Thomas Kidd family.

My Uncle Tom Kidd was such a positive influence for me during my young years while I lived with my Grandmother Kidd in Lincoln. Tom was more like a big brother and I loved him. I respected him so much. Besides his military service, he was an athlete and a great educator. I will cherish my memories of My Uncle Tom.

I met Tom in about 1988 while attending UNO. I was introduced to him and joined him for a game of racquetball on court number six. Over what must have been about ten years, we played on that court just about every Tuesday and Friday with a group of his of fellow instructors; Larry Stephens, Hassan Farhat and Mike Carroll. Tom taught me how to play racquetball and my friendship with him grew as did my skills under his direction. When Tom decided that he would hang up racquetball his presence on the court was missed. After Tom retired from the University, I remained in contact with him and he often came to watch my daughters play softball and run cross country. I'd call him and he'd show up. His observations relating to improving performance and sports psychology were always welcome. Tom had a keen eye for the dynamics of a body in motion and how to tweak athletic performance. In about 1995 I began hosting annual Superbowl parties and Tom made it to most of them. Tom had a great sense of humor and his knowledge of sports and athletics was well known to all who came to the party. The 2010 Superbowl won't be quite as much fun without him but he'll be remembered with admiration and fondness.

As UNO colleagues, Tom and I had many spirited discussions about scholarly issues. I was pleased with his open-mindedness; he liked unique ideas. During my days as Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, I could always count on Tom to offer logical and creative responses that contributed positively to resolving organizational and program problems. He was a professorial prototype. I will always remember him with respect and fondness.

Tom and I never tired of reminescing about the fun we had flying out of the Creswell, Oregon Airport during the time he lived here in Oregon attending the University of Oregon. Tom later got his Private Pilots License. I will miss my visits with Tom.

Dr. Kidd was a professor of mine, sort of took me under his wing, always giving me great advice. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Tom was a great friend to our family. He spent several Christmas holidays with us and enjoyed watching our son, Kevin, play soccer and hockey. I have fond memories of Tom on a trip into our family cabin on cross country skis. We also spent a holiday on ice skates at the local rink. Of course, we always had to make it home in time for Tom to catch football on TV.
