Thomas Larkin Obituary
February 7, 1956 - May 27, 2025
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Thomas Michael Larkin. He was a prolific visual artist spanning more than five decades, a contributor to Omaha's "J. Doe Project", a talented musician as the drummer for the influential punk rock band, Skuddur, as well as a guitarist and pianist. He was inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George Romero, alike. In addition, he was a lifelong student of art, music, history, and paleontology.
Above all, he was loyal and kind, generous and thoughtful, quiet yet certain, and a stubborn defender of the little guy. He was a proud Omahan, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend, and a model for all humans just trying to do their best.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Roberta (Marsh) Larkin, and his father, Robert Emmett Larkin. He is survived by his son, Christopher Emmet Larkin, his daughter-in-law, Linda Lichtenwalter, his brother, Mark Larkin and sister-in-law, Audrey (Hilton Head, SC), his brother, Paul Larkin and his sister-in-law, Maureen (Atlanta, GA).
A celebration of my father's life and talents will be held at The Waiting Room (6212 Maple St.) on Wednesday, July 30th from 6-10 p.m. Artwork from my dad's career will be on display, as well as photography by Paul Larkin. A short public address will take place between 7:30-8:30. All family, friends, fellow artists, fellow musicians, and anyone who knew and enjoyed his time and talents are welcome to join us.
In conjunction with Benson First Friday, some of my dad's work will be on display for the month of August inside Jake's Cigars (6206 Maple St.) for all to enjoy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the following non-profit organizations: Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières), One Spirit Lakota, the Lakota Friends Circle, True Sioux Hope Foundation, the Lakota Circle, 91.5 KIOS Omaha Public Radio, and Benson First Friday.

My deepest sympathy to his friends and family. Tommy was simply a great guy. He was a very good friend to my brother, Mark, for which I'm so grateful. And, like many of my brother's friends, Tommy always treated me as a little sister, showing me love and respect. Rest in peace dear Tommy.

Tommy was the best artist! I remember he would sketch Tolkien´s prints for my sister. Loved going to watch Skuddur and Tommy was the drummer. Rest in peace my friend, one of the best! So many memories. Deepest sympathy to the family.

What a great soul. Had t seen your dad in a couple of years but always great to see him. We played together in Warsaw Willie and he was the original drummer for what became Skuddur, then a country rock/outlaw band that had me as bass player
