I first met Thomas back in the punk days when he had a blue Mohawk, and even though he was a few years younger than me, we became really good friends as we hit it off over music, politics, and skateboarding. I was drawn to Thomas over his high intelligence, wit, sarcasm, and his kind heart. I always thought Thomas could have been a US Senator, or the Governor of Nebraska with his parents connection, and his charism, but he didn’t choose that path, or that path didn’t choose him, and sometimes in life our destiny is just that, our destiny.

When I first met Thomas parents at his house. I was so intimidated, but his parents quickly put me at ease, and were always so kind to me. They accepted me for being a punk rocker, and they they were always there for me when I needed them, and I will always be grateful to them for that kindness.

Recently, Thomas, and I were talking a lot about life, and how Mr. Monaghan reminded me of Perry Mason, and we laughed about it, and his parents reaction to him coming home with a Mohawk. Thomas told me how much loved his parents, but he also laughed about being a thorn in his fathers side. It was like the little Irish devil in him came out.

I’m really going to miss the guy. I am so grateful that we had a lot of really great conversations, and a two hour FaceTime recently where we laughed the whole time.
I am so glad, and fortunate that we have been friends for all of these years.

I am so happy for the memories, but as Johnny Thunders says.

“You Can’t Put Your Arm Around a Memory. “

Viva Monaghan !!! Rest in Peace !!! Suaimhneas síoraí a Thomáis !!!

I will see you in our next lives where we will start a World Revolution !!!

I Love You Brother.

We will fondly remember the good qualities Thomas possessed: his intelligent mind, dry sense of humor, love of music and of course love for his furry pets. Through the up and downs of his life, he never lost his warm heart down deep inside.Peace to you, Thomas.
