In the Air Force I was Tom's classmate at Syracuse University and studied Russian with him. After graduation we were assigned to different sites and I lost touch with him. In the past few years we reconnected via the internet and it has been a real pleasure to follow his humorous and poignant posts.

Tom was and remained a solidly great guy and the world is a sadder place without him.

Wishing all of the Vaughan family my condolences as they grieve the loss of their oldest brother Tom.
I have many fun and fond memories of the Vaughans.

Tom was off to the service by the time I first met the Vaughan family. But I remember very vividly the time when he returned and I was probably six- or seven-years-old. Peggy proudly and happily introduced me to her big brother Tom. He was everything she told me...kind, gentle and a good big brother. I'm sure there is a reunion like this now.

Wishing you all joy and comfort in your fond memories of your beloved brother.

Growing up, I spent much of my time in the Vaughan home. Tom is a couple of years older than me and I have to admit I was a bit intimidated by him. His intelligence and self assuredness were evident, as were his kindness and his humor. But the biggest thing is that Tom was always "cool". He always seemed to know where he was going in life and that he was going to get there his way. I always admired that about him.

I have many great memories, one of which was walking into the Vaughan house one Christmas Eve and finding that I had walked into the middle of Tom and Ann's wedding ceremony! I was embarrased, but Tom and Ann just shrugged it off and handed me a piece of wedding cake!

My condolences to Ann,, their children and grandchildren, and all of Tom's brothers and sister. I wish I could have been there with you, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Ann, you and Tom and Chris were the biggest part of my life for a very long time. I have many happy memories of sitting around your kitchen table sharing recipes, cross stitch, and parenting advice. Remember yeyow jeyow? And new parents don´t wear white? I love you and will miss Tom but will always have happy memories.
