Viktoras "Vik" Dainauskas, age 82, died August 13, 2025.
Vik was born Victor Danowski on April 15, 1943, the son of Louis and Stella (Latoza) Danowski in Omaha. Ever proud of his Lithuanian heritage Vik changed his name to the traditional spelling in 1984.
After graduating from Omaha South High School in 1961, Vik entered the U.S. Navy. After his military career, Vik earned his BS in American Literature from UNO and went on to careers at the Omaha World Hearld, First Data Resources, and ultimately retired from his position at the United Parcel Service. Vik's passion was music, literature, and the performance arts. Vik performed at the Bellevue Little Theatre, Dundee Dinner Theatre and for many years at the Omaha Community Playhouse, most notably in the seasonal performances of the Christmas Carol. His interest in his Lithuanian heritage included trips to the "old country" and as a member of St. Anthony's Parish, Vik was an avid participant in the many traditional Lithuanian activities and performances.
Vik is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bernard; sisters, Kathleen Perpich and Dorothy Gilliam; as well as his beloved feline companions.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces and their children.
VISITATION: Thursday, August 21st, 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, August 22nd, 10:30 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. INTERMENT: Omaha Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials will be directed by family.
