William Roarty Obituary

William E. Roarty, age 91, of Omaha, passed away October 18, 2024, at Josie Harper Hospice House.
Bill was born in Council Bluffs, IA, on October 4,1933, to the late John B. and Mary T. (Fitzgerald) Roarty. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1951, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Coral Sea.
On February 15, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Ruwe, at St. Francis Church and they celebrated 66 years of marriage. He retired from Northwestern Bell as a supervisor after many years of service. Bill was a member of St. Robert's Parish in Omaha, American Legion Post #1, Telephone Pioneers, 50 plus year member of the West Omaha Baseball Foundation, past Treasurer of the Irish American Cultural Institute and 25 plus year CCD teacher at Christ the King Church.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Margaret Freeman; brothers, John, Francis, Paul and Gerald Roarty; granddaughter, Grace Roarty, 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Omaha; children, Kathleen Roarty (Ken Bailey), of Des Moines, IA, James Roarty, of Council Bluffs, Elizabeth McNeil (Dennis), of Oronoco, MN, Mary Roarty, of Ralston, NE, Christopher Roarty (Carol), of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Lauren Turner (Kyle), Joseph McNeil (Cali), Cal McNeil, Jacob Roarty and William Roarty; great-grandchildren, Fiona McNeil, Jack Turner and Rowan Turner; beloved nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, John Dettman (Patty), of Omaha.
RECITATION OF THE ROSARY: Wednesday, 6 p.m., followed by VISITATION until 8 p.m., at Cutler O'Neill Meyer Woodring Funeral Home. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment, in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post #1.
A luncheon will follow, at Kottas Hall, at St. Peter Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Josie Harper Hospice House, St. Peter Catholic Church, and masses to your local church.

My condolences on the passing of Bill. I was doing some family tree research and came across his obituary. My father, James Roarty (who died in 2017) and Bill became acquainted because of a picture that my grandfather, Daniel Roarty (of Ottumwa, Iowa) had that included a Roarty relative of Bill. I believe one of Bill´s aunts (I believe Ann Roarty) also lived in Ottumwa at the time the picture was taken. They were never able to figure out if there was a close family tie between the two families. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill, I've always loved the Roarty Family and Bill was such a great guy. He will be missed by many including myself. God Bless and I pray the family is doing well. I know what you're going through we just lost My father and my brother Randy in a 5-week period earlier this summer.
