Alexander Janowski Obituary

Vernon Center>> Alexander (Alex) Janowski died Nov. 13, 2015 at his homestead on Gifford Road, Vernon Center, just a stone's throw from the house he was born in on June 23, 1936.
Alex was the son of Benjamin and Mary Bednar Janowski.
He grew up working on the dairy farm with family until 1995 when he sustained a work injury.
Alex played football in his senior year and graduated in 1954 from VVS High School.
On Nov. 29, 1958, Alex and Marcia Adamowicz were married in St. Patrick's Church, Oneida by the Rev. Thomas Quinn.
Alex was a Committee Man for Cornell Cooperative Extension service for many years and a delegate to the Eastern Milk Producers Co-op until his retirement. Alex sponsored Janowski Farm bowling team for many years. Alex was proud his team won many trophies over the years.
Alex was active in the Rome Polish Home, serving as President for several years, and was a longtime member of the United Polka League.
Alex suffered a stroke in November 2011 but that didn't stop him from mowing lawns and tending to his vegetable gardens. For many years he and Marcia enjoyed Polka dancing and Polish music. Alex was proud to be Polish.
Alex is survived by Marcia, wife of 57 years. He is also survived by son Paul and wife Pam and their sons, Christian, Justin, Bailey and Brady; also son Michael and wife Dana and their children, Ashley, Scott, and Alina. Alex also leaves brother Joseph and wife Sue, Baldwinsville and brother John and wife Joyce, Auburn, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father when he was only 13 in 1950 and his mother in 1981. Also his young brother Stanley died in 1941, and a sister Bertha at age 12 in 1950. Alex was predeceased by half-brothers and half-sisters over the years, namely, Adele, Chester, Zygmund, Irene, Jennie, Benjamin and Virginia.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of CNY and their caregivers, for their wonderful care of Alex. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice of CNY or the Holy Family Church Bereavement Fund.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon. Burial will be in Holy Cross National Cemetery Woods Road, Whitesboro, New York.
