Daniel Peter Bigos

SAUQUOIT-Daniel Peter Bigos, 59, of Sauquoit, formerly of Canastota, passed away on July 20, 2023 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born on December 5, 1963 in Buffalo NY, the son of Stanley and Dorothy (Biskupski) Bigos. Daniel graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Cheektowaga, NY in 1981. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1981 to 1992.Daniel worked at the New York Power Authority as a grid operator for 30 years. He attended St. Patrick's-St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Daniel enjoyed watching baseball, especially the NY Mets. He also enjoyed playing baseball and played on several teams during his years in the Air Force. He loved coaching his two sons in little league and shared his passion for baseball with them while also visiting several ballparks across the country. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed reading, entertaining friends, and family- especially if it involved grilling, and fishing. On October 10, 2019, he was united in marriage to Karen Stedman.Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Bigos; sons, Christopher Bigos (Rachel) and their daughter Berkley Bigos; Michael Bigos; mother, Dorothy Bigos; brothers, Bob (Carol) Bigos and Rich (Karen) Bigos; sister Barb (Dewey) Lowe; several nieces and nephews; his stepdaughters Brandee, Julie (Stephen); Jillian (Shaun), and step-grandchildren Briannah, Jett and Skylar. Daniel was predeceased by his father Stanley Bigos in 2011. The family would like to thank their friends from NYPA, especially Dan & Denise Goodman, and Gordon & Debbie Kelly. Friends are invited to call on the family on Thursday, July 27th from 4-7 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida Street, Sauquoit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 28th at 10:30am at St. Patrick's-St. Anthony's Catholic Parish, 3364 Oneida Street, Chadwick's.
