Doris M. Vaughn

Vernon-Sherrill-On April 6, 2023 Doris M. (LaFave) Vaughn passed away with her family by her side. Doris (Dodie) was born May 9,1942 in Tupper Lake, NY to Harley L. LaFave and Laura A. (Bombard) LaFave. She was youngest of three children. She lived in Tupper Lake with her family until 1967 when she married the love of her life, Daniel J Vaughn. They were wed in Victorville CA on February 4 1967, where Danny was completing his service in the Air Force. They were married for 56 years.Dan and Doris settled in the Vernon Verona Sherrill area to start and raise a family. Doris was employed by several grocery convenience stores over the years, until she managed and eventually owned and operated The Silver City Market in Sherrill NY. Doris' life revolved around her husband the love of her life, her children, grandchildren extended family and friends. Laughter, good food, music, a hot game of cards or Yahtzee, a house full of people and on occasion a properly made whiskey sour were among her favorite things. She was a woman of faith.She loved people and was the definition of selflessness and kindness. Always smiling when attending sporting events or concerts of her children and grandchildren or just out for an adventure with Danny. She will be more than missed. Survived by her husband Danny, daughter Wendy Ann Vaughn (Patrick Norman) of Vernon NY, son Daniel J Vaughn (Jennifer Vaughn) of Horseheads NY; grandchildren Samantha Sovern (Andrew) of Bedford MA, Devin Croad (Alison Nickerson) of Vernon NY, Daniel Vaughn of Horseheads NY, Maria Vaughn of Horseheads NY and Adam Smith of Vernon NY. Brother Donald W LaFave (Edith) of Baldwinsville NY.Doris is predeceased by her parents and her half-sister Esther (LaFave) Brown. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the St. Helena's Cemetery. arrangements will be with Malecki Funeral Home, Sherrill, NY.
