Gordon Burdick Obituary
Gordon was born on May 2, 1922 in Morrisville, the son of Mose and Laura Tayntor Burdick. A lifelong resident of the area he was a graduate of Morrisville Eaton High School.
He proudly served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division in Europe from 1942 to 1946 during World War II and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his tenure he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day.
He married Margaret Busch on April 6, 1946 in Syracuse. Mrs. Burdick died on Feb. 8, 2003.
Gordon worked for many years with the former GLF/ Agway and retired in 1991 from the parts department of Whites Farm Supply in Canastota.
He was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post No. 54 in Munnsville.
Gordon enjoyed fishing, camping and spending quality time with his family while enjoying a glass of Merlot.
Surviving are three sons, Bruce (Gay) Burdick of Sykesville, Md., Brent (Barbara) Burdick of Placitas, N.M. and Brad Burdick of Oneida; two daughters, Megan (Michael) Johnson of Moncks Corners, S.C. and Melinda (Michael) Bowe of Oneida; six grandchildren, Christopher (Lydia) Burdick, Jeffrey (Devon) Burdick, Craig (Karen) Johnson, Melissa (Jon) Guerra, Meara Bowe and Mackenzie Bowe; three great-grandchildren; and one brother Sterling (Pat) Burdick of Syracuse. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Lillie.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Welsh Church Union Cemetery, Nelson, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held in the future at a time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. 342 Main St., Oneida.

You all are in our thoughts and prayers. When I saw Uncle Sterling a few weeks ago he said Uncle Gordon was still driving at 90!

I am so sorry to learn about your father. I last saw him at the VA in Rome several years ago as we both had appoinments at the same time. We had a good visit with each other. He was a great guy.
