James Earing Obituary

SYLVAN BEACH >> James F. Earing Sr., 86, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Upstate Medical Center, where he had been a patient for nearly two weeks.
Jim proudly served his country in the Army for two years during the Korean War; worked many years for Agway, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Smyrna Fire Department and the American Legion for many years. Jim loved Oneida Lake where he spent many happy days fishing.
Jim leaves his loving wife, Margaret, of 35 years; his four children, James Earing, Sally Bucalow, Carol Prentice, Philip Earing; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step children; 21 step grandchildren; 30 step great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mickey, Norma, Iona and Esther.
Jim was predeceased by his son, David and his daughter, Barbara.
A celebration of Jim's life is to be held at the Sylvan Beach American Legion on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. To leave a message of condolence, go to paulfuneralhome.net

To the family, my friends. I met Mr. Earing through Carol. He was a very active man who enjoyed family time, hunting, fishing, fixing things with a ready smile. Happy that he had a long happy life.
