John A. Becker

1942 - 2023

John A. Becker, 81, Bruno Road, Canastota, died Saturday morning, June 24, 2023, in Oneida Healthcare, in the presence of his loving family.Born in Canastota, on May 11, 1942, he was the son of Jack and Geraldine Keene Becker. A lifelong resident of Canastota, John was a graduate of Canastota High School and then served with the United States Air Force for three years. He married Alice Marie Grazler in St. Joseph's Church, Oneida on December 21, 1962. Alice died on April 7, 2015.Prior to his retirement, John was employed with Oneida Limited, Silversmiths and following his retirement, he mowed the park lawns for the Town of Sullivan. He was a long time member of the Oneida Rifle Club, an honorary member of the Madison County Adirondack Club, where he enjoyed spending time with friends at the club's 'Camp Woodpecker' in Nobleboro, NY. John volunteered in various activities with the Chittenango American Legion, and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapped in his earlier years. He was of the Catholic faith.Surviving are his two sons and their wives, John M. and Antoinette Becker of Canastota and Patrick M. and Amy Becker of Oneida; his four grandchildren, Jonathan, Lyndsey, Sabrina and Wyatt Becker; his three brothers and their wives, James and Judy Becker and Jerry and Sharon Becker, all of Canastota and Charles and Sharon Becker of Eaton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and the mentor in his life, his grandfather, Alfred Keene.Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM, Thursday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota with the Reverend Kevin Corcoran, officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Family and close friends may call at the funeral home, 6-8 PM, Wednesday.
