Nancy L. Ginter

ONEIDA- Nancy L. Ginter, 86, Sylvan Street, died Saturday evening, December 23, 2023, with her son by her side, in Oneida Healthcare, where she had been a patient for the past four days.Born in Oneida on September 19, 1937, she was the daughter of Frank and Charlotte McGlynn Newcomb. A lifelong resident of the area, Nancy was a graduate of Canastota High School, Class of 1955 and then attended airline school.Prior to her retirement, with twenty-seven years of service, Nancy was employed as a secretary with Rome DDSO and previously was employed with American Airlines, the former Oneida Credit Bureau, Beneficial Finance, the former Rome Savings Bank and Oneida Limited, and was employed part-time with Dibbles Inn. She was an active parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, teaching religious education and a member of the parish's Senior Group, a member of the Oneida Zonta Club and the Canastota Seniors Club and a former member of the Madison County Historical Society.Surviving are her daughter, Colleen (David) Davis of Wellington, Florida; her son, Joseph T. Ginter of Oneida; her granddaughters, Erin Ginter and Kaila Davis; and several nieces and nephews. She waspredeceased by her son, Darren F. Ginter on March 7, 2012; her two sisters, Betty Newcomb and Mary Jane Thorna Alvares and her two brothers, Kenneth 'Babe' Newcomb and Thomas Newcomb.Funeral services will be 10 AM, Friday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida and 10:30 AM, from St. Joseph's Church, Oneida, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Christopher Ballard, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Helena's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 3-6 PM, Thursday.
