Dr. Patrick Curtin,
Many of us know him from a variety of life encounters.
I have known him since 1976. He gave me my first administrative role. He was my boss, my mentor, and most importantly my friend.
One lasting mantra he taught me was "Remember it is about the students over all else."
Pat was a natural prankster. He influenced me one Halloween to dress up as Sylvester the cat. I was to meet Tweetie bird in Vernon. "In costume," I chose to the back roads to the Wettel school. Of course, a state trooper pulled me over and then escorted me to the elementary school. Pat had to vouch for me and that I was sober and a principal at Sherrill. He never let me forget it.
We celebrated many, many St. Patrick´s day events. He kidnapped me many times!
Gone but never will be forgotten will be his legacy. Trying to do his best for all the young people, especially those who were disadvantaged.
Rest in Peace, You did an excellent job on Earth.
With Love,
Tom and Mary Ann Koscielniak

Pat and Brian, I am very sorry to hear about your father's passing. I remember when he was at the helm during our years at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central High School. I met him once and he was a very good person to get to know. You can take comfort that he is in a better place. My prayers are with your family during this very difficult time.

The Curtin's lived across the street from us in Sherrill. Our house was on Park Terrace Extension. My father, James F. Van Valkenburg, was the School Psychologist at VVS. My sympathies and condolences to the Curtin family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Pat Curtin. I met Pat many years ago when he was an interim superintendent. We kept in touch all these years and had many laughs along the way. I was honored to have Dr. Curtin as a friend and a mentor. He was honest as the day is long and had strong integrity. Most importantly, he motivated me to become the educator that I am today. I remember he would call me as I was driving to an interview and give me some last minute advice. He always gave me honest and direct feedback. Dr. Curtain would always propel me forward because he had seen the landscape and knew what it takes to be successful. I wish all educators had a mentor like Dr. Curtin. May he rest in peace. Christopher Harper

Kay and Family... We are very sorry to read of Pat passing. We had the pleasure to know him later in life while being the interim Super at Stockbridge Valley. He was a quiet man who carried a big stick. When he spoke you listened as great wisdom doesn't visit very often. All those schools, teachers, parents and especially kids are much better because of him. Dr. Curtin, Rest in peace.
