CANASTOTA >> Robert "Bob" Mohorter, 58, of Canastota passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at the home of Randy and Mary Hinman with his sisters, nieces, nephew and his beloved Aunt Kathy by his side. He fought a tough and courageous battle against leukemia for the past two years.
Bob was born July 21, 1957 in Syracuse, a son of the late Monte and Lulu Belle Devendorf Mohorter. He was a life resident of the Canastota area. He had a love for family, farming and trucking. He had been employed by the Jim Mason Farms, Pat and Joe Bandy Trucking and was presently employed by CT Express.
He is survived by his brother, Russ Mohorter (Bobbie) of Kirkville; his four sisters, Mary Hinman (Randy) of Canastota, Lee Leggett (Fred) of Canastota, Melissa Franklin (Daniel) of Tunkhannock, Pa., and Barbara Schaffner (Pat Anderson) of Liverpool; his nieces and nephews, Shannon and Toby, Stacy and Aldo, Renee and Paul, Tracy, Julia, Adam, Brandon and Kourtney, Joel and Norah; his great nieces and nephews, Madison and Jakob, Gavin and Skylar, Maura and Dmitri, Natalie, Ella and Addison and Jacob and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank all the staff on 3-2 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hospice of CNY and his nurse Jen Holmes for the exceptional care Bob received.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Contributions may be made to JDRF, 100 Metropolitan Drive Suite 400, Liverpool, N.Y. 13088 in honor of Bob's great niece Maura MacDonald.
