Roger E. Delaney

1941 - 2016

DURHAMVILLE >> Roger E. Delaney, 74, Buck Street, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, after an apparent coronary attack at his home.
Born in Oneida, on Dec. 20, 1941, he was a son of Francis and Katherine Bartholoma Delaney. A lifelong resident of the area, Roger was educated in Stockbridge Valley Schools. He married Thelma Kovaleski in Canastota, on Oct. 16, 1964. Thelma died on July 9, 2007.
Prior to his retirement, Roger was employed by ConMed Corporation, in Utica and previously with Oneida Limited Silversmiths. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era. Roger was a member of the American Legion, Oneida Post 169, a member of the Amateur Ham Radio Operators, where he advanced in his radio licensing and was capable of reaching frequencies in foreign countries, enjoyed restoring cars and showing them at shows, hunting and the outdoors.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and John Totski of Canastota; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Vicki Delaney of Canastota; his special friend, Diane Hand of New Jersey; his five grandchildren, Jessica Totski and her companion, Michael Barker, John Totski, Matthew Clark, Alysa Delaney and her companion, Brandon Colangelo, and Nichole Delaney; one great-granddaughter who is expected to be born this week; two sisters, Patricia VanValkenburg of Canastota and Carol Miles of Oneida; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dennis and Patricia Delaney of Wampsville and Donald Delaney of Oneida and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Richard Kapral, officiating. Spring interment will be made in St. Helena's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 4-7 p.m., Friday.
