Roger W. Gregory

1937 - 2021

ONEIDA- Roger W. Gregory, 84, of Abe’s Way, passed away October 29, 2021, in Oneida Health, in the comfort of his loving wife.Born in State Bridge on May 3, 1937, he was the son of William and Ethel Seybold Gregory. He married Thelma Canfield Chase on February 28, 2015 in Oneida. Roger was educated in Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central Schools.Prior to his retirement in 1997 with twenty-five years of service, he was employed with the Oneida City School District as the Transportation Director. Roger was a veteran of the United States Navy and was of the Episcopalian faith.Roger loved his tractor and his golf cart. He enjoyed country music, socializing and Christmas with his family. Roger loved to travel, especially going to Idaho and Arizona and he loved the USA.Surviving besides his wife Thelma are: four daughters, Linda (Jerry) Dayton of Nampa, Idaho, Leona (James) Woodcock of Vienna, Dawn Pedersen of Sherrill and Beth Hluska of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five sons, Mark W. Gregory of Glens Falls, Richard (Merrie) Chase of Blossvale, Daniel Chase of Wampsville, Matt Chase of Verona and Donald (Marilyn) Chase of Camden; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Paul Balke of Durhamville and Richard Canfield of Rome and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Loretta Chase in 2012, a sister, Norma J. Balke in 2014 and a daughter-in-law, Gerri Cordell in 2019.Funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday, November 6, 2021, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida with the Pastor Ben Orvis, officiating. Interment will be made in McConnellsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 3-7PM.
