Theodore N. "Ted" Roth

1941 - 2011

CANASTOTA - Theodore N. "Ted" Roth, 69, of 8655 Lewis Point Road, Canastota, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, following a brief illness.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1941, in Oneonta, the son of Albert, Sr. and Alice Marble Roth.
Ted spent his early years in Chittenango, and was a 1959 graduate of Chittenango High School. He has lived in Canastota since 1973.
He has worked for Kime Hardware in Canastota for the last 25 years.
Ted was a member of Bowling Leagues in Sylvan Beach and in Canastota.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, model trains, watching NASCAR racing following Kevin Harvick, and was a New York Giant football fan.
Ted married Cheryl J. Barney on September 29, 1973, in Whitelaw.
Surviving besides his wife, Cheryl, are: four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Lori Stevens of Connecticut, Thomas and Missy Stevens of Vienna, James and Teresa Stevens and Scott and Sheilla Roth, all of Williamstown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin Clemens and her fiancé, Ron Witty, of Jamesville, Jolaine and Mark Nell of Verona, and Shari and Ed Smith of Albany; his mother, Alice Gardner of York, South Carolina; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert, Jr., and Bonnie Roth of Texas, Charles and Patty Gardner of South Carolina, and Bruce and Denise Gardner of Bridgeport; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alicia Nichols of Virginia, Betty and Richard "Dick" Benson of Central Square, and Diana and John Dodge of South Carolina; 19 grandchildren, Bradley Stevens, Rachel Cimino, Megan Stevens, Thomas Stevens, Robert Stevens, Alyssa Stevens, Adam Stevens, Owen Roth, Elizabeth Roth, RaeAnn Clemens, Garet Clemens, Travis Popple, Zachary Nell, Abigail Nell, Marissa Nell, Nicholas Roth, Christopher Cornwell, Danielle Sheehan, and Brianna Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by a daughter, Marsha Roth; a sister, Patricia Roth; his father, Albert Roth, Sr.; and his step-father, Lynn Gardner.
Private funeral services for Theodore N. "Ted" Roth, 69, of Canastota, will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. William M. Wilcox, pastor of Fyler Community Church, will officiate. Family and friends are invited to calling hours which will be held on Tuesday (tomorrow) from 5-8 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota.
