Daniel William Goux passed away peacefully at his home on February 9, 2026. Danny was born in
Rome, NY to Barton William Goux and Beverly Anne George Goux.
He is survived by his husband, Richard Addy, his sister Sharon (Hugh), and his brothers, Frederick Goux (Susan), Kevin Goux (Carolyn) and Patrick, his nephews Robert Lynch (Donna), William Lynch (Bree), Bryan Goux (Jess), Ryan Goux (Christine), Stepehen Goux, Jonathon Goux, and David Goux and his nieces Brenda Burnight (Brian) Meredith Lynch-Slater (Matthew) and Stephanie along with 17 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Timothy and Richard.
Danny attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in
Fayetteville, NY and graduated from Chittenango High School. He graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College (Bachelor of Science, Business Administration; Bachelor of Science, Computer Information Systems) in 2000.
Danny was a long-time resident of North Carolina, having moved here in 1990. After working at Nortel Networks as a distributed computing specialist and systems engineer for 11 years, he turned to his passion and opened My Sewing Shoppe in
Raleigh, NC. That store was his pride and joy; he loved teaching classes and working with his customers to get them exactly what they needed.
Danny and Richard met in 2000 and were together ever since. They were married in 2013 in Washington, DC – because that was the first time they could get legally married. Danny and Richard moved to
Youngsville, NC in 2004, living a quiet life (despite annoying the geese).
Danny loved laughter, good food, entertaining, and cooking when he could. He had many hobbies – sewing, quilting, gardening, and piano were just a few. Like his father, he was an excellent carpenter and used his considerable skills to create a home of style and grace.
Danny was a very social person and had the gift of making friends easily. He had so many good people in his life, and he treasured all of them. Krystal, Stephanie, Bob, Patty, Beth, Betty Lou, Dawn, Donny, Jeff – just the start of a very, very long list.
Danny also loved animals, starting with his childhood dog Brandy, to his cat Gizmo, and then, with Richard, 3 dogs – Sydney, Alexei, and Percy. Danny loved those little guys; they brought him much comfort.
Percy came to Danny and Richard from Saving Grace, NC – since then, Percy has been Danny's constant companion. If so moved, please consider making a donation to Saving Grace, NC in Danny's name.
