Charlotte Blume Obituary
Ms. Blume was the daughter of William Howard Chafin, Jr., and Mary Madeline Slavin Chafin. She was preceded in death by her son, Darren Howell Blume, and her brother, Allen Dean Chafin.
She graduated from Athens High School in 1960 and attended the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Reverend John Andrew Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as Chaplain. She was a State of Georgia Certified Master Gardener, loved traveling the world, and volunteered for many organizations. She retired from the University of Georgia as a graduate student adviser in the anthropology department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens.
Survivors include her brother, John H. (Janet) Chafin; two granddaughters, Savannah Leigh Blume and Annabelle Rose Blume; nieces Madeline Renee Chafin and Cristina Crane; and other nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org or (800) 272-3900.

I worked with Charlotte and spent time with her outside of work as well. I always called her the "wild child" She was definitely one of a kind. I worked with her at Dixie Canner Equiptment Company and hung out with her in Foxes and Allens and also took some river trips with her. I did call her a couple of years back and she remembered me. So sad that she is no longer with us. A real light has been blown out. Rest in peace Miss Charlotte.

I am so sorry to see this. I just happened to see it while looking for information on someone else. I haven't seen Charlotte for many years, but had to privilege of working at the vet clinic where she took her beloved little dog, Newberry. I will always have fond memories of hearing about her travels. Her family and friends are in my thoughts at this sad time.

Sweet Charlotte was definitely one of a kind! She was a true friend to all, a wonderful volunteer for many worthy causes, including being our AHS Reunion Treasurer for several years, leading overseas tour groups, helping those who needed it most, and she was such a wonderful artist! Plus, Charlotte was full of life and lots of fun! She had great faith in God, and she certainly was an inspiration to me. She will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her! Sending love and prayers.

We were first playmates,lived very near each other from birth to 10 yrs old, then visited each other through the years...I am sadden to know you will not be a the end of the phone for us to laugh about our adventures in the past. I have you in my memories and with my love and faith, knowing we will be together again one day. Rest In Peace, my 1st cousin, until we meet again..
