James Emily Obituary
James K. Emily, age 62, died suddenly on March 23, 2007. He was a resident of Fulton and spent a great deal of time in Kuttawa, Kentucky, where he owned and operated the Cumberland House Restaurant.
Jim was born in Independence, Missouri, and moved to Fulton in 1976 to establish Midway Muffler on State Line Road. Over the years, Midway expanded into a wholesale muffler business, with the primary warehouse location in Fulton, and served customers for over a 6 state area. After selling Midway in 2001, he devoted his full efforts into his next career, the Cumberland House in Kuttawa, which he purchased in 1997.
He was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church and a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of Kentucky. He was past master of Roberts Lodge #172 in Futon. His hobby other than the restaurant was Harley Davidson motorcycles and biking road trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Mary Emily, of Fulton. He is survived by his wife, Janice Emily; sons, David Emily, of Fulton and Todd Emily, of Athens, Georgia; and daughter Erica Emily, of St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky, and the funeral will be Tuesday.
