Joe Ramirez Obituary

Joe Ramirez was born in 1940, emigrating with his family from Puerto Rico to America as legal citizens in 1943. He grew up in Brooklyn NY, taking his trade in printing to support his first wife, Trinidad & 3 children in NY then NJ. After divorce in the 1990s he moved to Georgia to take work & be closer to the country he loved. He met & married Linda Weatherly in a square dance themed wedding, square dancing being a lifelong avocation. In retirement, he took on other pursuits like travel, perfume bottle collecting & film extra work most notably in the first season of the show "The Walking Dead." After Linda's passing in 2013 & his own battle with illness he reengaged life by returning to square dancing & meeting Vanessa McIver who helped him enjoy the last of his life, seeing him through his illness until his passing on March 27th 2017. He is survived by his sister Miriam Nogueras of NY, sons Richard, Ronald & Randall, 4 grandchildren & all of the lives he touched. In lieu of services donations can be made in his name to the YWCO on Research Drive until Friday April 7th. Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com

Joe, I can't believe you've been gone for 2 years. I miss your stories, your smile & your dry wit. Knowing you, you're keeping all the angels in stitches and have most likely formed a square dance group in Heaven. You were truly one of a kind!!

My sincere condolences to Joe's family and network of friends for the loss of a one in a million human being. Joe, your smile, endless energy, compassionate nature and wry sense of humor are traits to be proud of and will be missed by all who had the privilege of meeting you. You were an angel on Earth in so many ways and now you are an angel in Heaven watching over us. Thank you for being such a wonderful addition to Vanessa's life and all of us.
