Joshua Bruner Obituary

Joshua Todd Bruner 31 of Fortson, Ga. died Thursday, November 01, 2012 in a car accident in Athens, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 05, 2012 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 06, 2012 at Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan, Ala. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Joshua was born August 30, 1981 in Albany, Georgia son of Paul A. Bruner and Linda Branton Bruner of Fortson, Ga. Over the past years Joshua lived in Milledgeville, Athens and Columbus, Ga. He graduated from Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Ga. and was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Fine Arts Degree. Joshua was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity of the University of Georgia, a member of the service industry in Athens, Ga. and the Uptown Columbus, Ga. community. He was a man who never made an enemy, only friends. He was full of love for all, never turning his back on his fellow man. He always strived to build a better world through all his gifts: whether it was his love for the outdoors, his art or his business ventures. He was a molder of metal and people alike and lived a life that was epic. He was the epitome of a vagabond, a sojourner. He did amazing things and lived his life to the full and did it with gumption. We will never forget the trombone player, kayaker, artist, lifesaver, brother and son that he was.
Joshua was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Early "Papa" Branton of Taylor, AL; his paternal grandparents, Volder and Ruby Helms Bruner of Ashford, AL and his Uncle Johnny Vann of Ashford, AL.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Linda Bruner of Fortson, GA; brothers and sister-in-laws, Brandon Bruner (Trina Livermore) of Athens, GA and Nicholas Bruner (Ashley Hanzlik) of Columbus, GA; maternal grandmother, Ruthie Jean Branton of Taylor, AL; niece, Selah Ruth Bruner, whom Josh loved and adored; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; his Great Aunt Mable whom he had such a unique bond and love for; and his two special pets, Precious and Bobcat.
Flowers are welcome, but if you would like to make a donation to a cause that honors Josh, please donate to the Chattahoochee Riverwardens: P.O. Box 985 Columbus, Ga. 31902, and place a footnote "In memory of Josh." This group helps clean and maintain the Chattahoochee River in the Columbus, Ga. area.
