Olivia Carlisle Obituary
Olivia B. attended Athens High School and the University of Georgia, was deeply involved with Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and actively supported all of her children in their individual artistic, sporting, and scholastic endea- vors. She worked on the family records collection, authored several family historical publications which are held in the UGA Russell Library and the ACC Library, and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Olivia B. instilled in her family a love of history, research, and a sense of duty and pride to their God, home, and country. She was a strong, supportive and joyful, member of the Athens community. From Olivia B.'s journal: "...Not as we take, but as we give. Not as we pray, but as we live. These are the things that make for peace from now 'till time shall cease."
Olivia B. was preceded in death by her younger son, James Allen Carlisle. She is survived by her elder son, Joseph Allen Carlisle, of Lawrenceville; her daughters, C. Olivia Carlisle and Marion Bloomfield Carlisle, of Athens; and her grandson, Eric Tobias Carlisle, of Baltimore, Md.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
In honor of Olivia B.'s life, memorial donations may be made to the Bloomfield Fund, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Avenue, Athens, GA 30601.
