Philip Alan Jones, age 51 of Athens, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Rayford 'Ray' M. Jones, and sister, Donna Marie Jones. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Martin Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Martin 'Marty' (Charlotte); sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan 'Susie' (Sam) Jones Lamont, Linda (Kurt Henine) Jones; and niece, Jenna Lynn Lamont. Philip will be missed by all family members and many friends. Philip was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Auburn University. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Services with Deacon Brian Kilkelly officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to your choice of cancer organization in memory of Philip Jones. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com. I am so saddened to hear of Phillip's death. While we were not close, my heart goes out to the family. My young memory of Phillip was one of kindness and sincerity to the stranger that I was. God has received an angel.
