Walter West Obituary
Walter Gary West, 67, died March 10, 2021.
Born in Albany, GA, he is the son of Mary Frances West and the late Aubrey West.
Gary was a graduate of The University of Georgia and has made Athens his home since 1980. A longtime Athens businessman, he was the founder of Gary West Shutters. Gary was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. In his free time Gary loved playing music, bird watching, cheering on the Georgia bulldogs, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda West; daughters, Leslie West and her fiancé Jack Morbitzer of Portland, OR, Erin West of Athens, Natalie Yonz and her husband Christopher of St. Marys, GA and Zoe Rumppe and her husband Mitch of Smyrna; sister, Linda Barden and her husband Ron of Rabun Gap, GA and granddaughter, Abigail.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Services will follow on Tuesday in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Nix officiating.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
